“Change your thoughts, change your life!” Lau Tzu.
Our mind is the greatest asset we own, yet sometimes we do not take the time to learn about our mind, the way it works, the impact of our thoughts on our feelings, or how to change the way we think to improve our wellbeing and our lives. Science has now proved that we can in fact change our brain; neuroplasticity is the ability to rewire our brain, to change the way it previously functioned.
For some people, it is their mind that is stopping them making progress, creating change, achieving their goals or living their best life.
Some of the books in this recommended reading list have had a big impact on me and highly influential in improving my life. Some of the books listed have nothing to do with the mind, but I found them useful in terms of knowledge and understanding and worth sharing. I should also add that working on your mind is just like working on your body, it is a regular practice, and it takes time and commitment to create change.
Finally, some books will speak to you more than others depending on what’s going on in your life and how you are feeling. For example, I owned the Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle for 6 years before I actually read it! I remember buying it because it was on my reading list for yoga teacher, flicking through it, and reading the first few pages and not getting into it at all. Then when I picked it up 6 years later at a crisis point in my life, it helped me get through one of the toughest periods of my life, and literally changed the way I was thinking about most things, and I ended up feeling like the happiest person ever! 6 years prior, I was not ready to read the book, if I had read it then, my life may have turned out very differently. So be guided by what you feel youneed, or what may be helpful for you at this time, rather than just getting a book because I have recommended it. I also sometimes re-read a book and take a different message away each time, simply because I am at a different point in my journey.
