SUNDAY CHILLOUT YOGA (Sunday 13 June, 7.30-8.30pm)

I am excited to offer you this special Sunday stretching, unwinding, relaxing and giving your body a true gift.  In this class I will be teaching some of the most effective yoga asanas and techniques to leave your body feeling, stretched, moved, released, more open and calm.

With our busy hectic lives it’s so easy to feel “stressed”; this class is designed to elicit the body’s relaxation response and make you feel great.  When the body is relaxed it is able to recover, restore, fight off illness, renew and rejuvenate itself.

The class will include –

Strengthening: We will use our own body weight to build strength in our bodies, working both our large and smaller muscles to create a balanced and strong body.

Stretching: We will release tension in our body by stretching out tight muscles to help us to relax more easily. How the body feels will affect how the mind feels, so when the body feels good it has a positive affect on the mind. Stretching will also bring a fresh blood supply to those muscles, lubricate our joints, improve circulation and improve our mobility.

Breathing & meditation: Your breath is a link between the mind and the body. So by focusing our attention on our breath, breathing fully and deeply, we can bring about the relaxation response and thereby having a positive affect on our body and the mind. By mindfully focusing on our breathing we will balance our nervous systems, reduce blood pressure, clear our head, and find calm.

Equipment uses – Mat, belt, two blocks, blanket (an eye pillow can be a great aid for relaxation if you have one)
